Bangladesh stamped its authority firmly on the 2nd Test against Ireland, riding on brilliant centuries from veterans Mushfiqur Rahim and Litton Das before the bowlers ripped through the Irish top order.

Mushfiqur Rahim (106) made history early in the day, becoming the first Bangladeshi and only the 11th batter globally to score a hundred in his 100th Test match. Litton Das (128) provided fluent support, helping Bangladesh post a formidable first-innings total of 476.

Match Summary (Stumps, Day 2)

  • Bangladesh 1st Innings: 476 all out (Litton Das 128, Mushfiqur Rahim 106, McBrine 6/109)

  • Ireland 1st Innings: 98/5 (Hasan Murad 2/10)

  • Result: Ireland trail by 378 runs with five wickets remaining, staring down a potential innings defeat.

Bowlers Apply Pressure

Ireland’s batting response was disappointing, especially against Bangladesh’s spinners. Young left-arm spinner Hasan Murad was particularly frugal and effective, grabbing 2 wickets for just 10 runs. Taijul Islam and Mehidy Hasan Miraz also tightened the screws, helping the hosts reduce Ireland to a precarious position by the close of play.

Ireland will resume on Day 3 needing a monumental effort to avoid the follow-on. Bangladesh looks well on track to secure a series sweep.
