DHAKA, November 21, 2025 – Bangladesh has taken a near-unassailable position in the Second Test against Ireland. The match is being played at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur. By the end of Day 3, the hosts had secured a commanding lead of 367 runs with nine wickets still remaining in their second innings.

Taijul Leads the Bowling Attack
Ireland started the day on a precarious score of 98 for five. However, they showed brief resilience through a solid partnership between Lorcan Tucker (75*) and Stephen Doheny (46).
Spin Dominance: Left-arm spinner Taijul Islam ultimately broke the stand. He claimed four wickets in the innings. Significantly, this haul tied him with Shakib Al Hasan as Bangladesh’s joint-highest Test wicket-taker.
Final Score: Ireland were eventually bowled out for 265. Consequently, Bangladesh secured a substantial first-innings lead of 211 runs.
Batters Build Unassailable Lead
Bangladesh chose not to enforce the follow-on. Instead, they opted to bat again to bat Ireland completely out of the game on a deteriorating pitch.
Solid Start: Openers Shadman Islam (69*) and Mahmudul Hasan Joy (60) set a perfect foundation. Their 119-run partnership completely deflated the Irish bowling attack.
Commanding Position: Shadman remained unbeaten, joined by Mominul Haque (19*). Therefore, Bangladesh finished the day at 156 for one in their second innings, stretching the lead to 367.
Match Interrupted by Earthquake
Notably, the day’s play was briefly halted. A moderate 5.7-magnitude earthquake rattled Dhaka on Friday morning. Players left the field, and reporters evacuated the press box. Despite this interruption, play quickly resumed.
Bangladesh now looks set to press for a decisive victory on Day 4, which would ensure a clean sweep of the two-match series.
