The Bangladesh Under-19 cricket team has officially confirmed its place in the Asia Cup 2025 semifinals after a thrilling conclusion to the Group Stage matches in the UAE.

The Young Tigers secured their spot in the final four after Sri Lanka narrowly defeated Afghanistan by two wickets in a tightly contested Group A match on Monday. The result confirmed both Bangladesh and Sri Lanka as the two qualifying teams from the group.

Path to the Semis
Bangladesh’s qualification came on the back of two strong victories:

A three-wicket win over Afghanistan in a tense encounter.

A commanding seven-wicket victory against Nepal, where a collective bowling effort dismissed the opponents cheaply, followed by a brilliant unbeaten fifty from opener Zawad Abrar.

Afghanistan, despite fighting hard in both matches, suffered narrow defeats in consecutive games and are now eliminated from the tournament.

Group Champions Decider
Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, both having secured their progression, will now face off in their final group match on Wednesday. This match will determine the Group A champion and finalize the semifinal pairings.

Acting CEO Halima Begum has been removed from her position at Oxfam GB, effective immediately. The decision follows the completion of an independent review into her conduct and leadership.
