World Cup-winning football icon Lionel Messi has arrived in India, starting his tour in Kolkata, West Bengal. On Friday, a rare and historic meeting took place between the football legend and Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, sending social media into a frenzy.

The two icons met at a hotel ahead of a scheduled event in the city. Messi arrived in Kolkata late Friday night, accompanied by his close friends and teammates Luis Suárez and Rodrigo De Paul. Meanwhile, Shah Rukh Khan arrived in the city early in the morning with his youngest son, AbRam. The meeting was facilitated by the event’s primary organizer, Satadru Dutta. During the private, closed-door session, Messi and Suárez were seen sharing warm greetings with the Bollywood star.

Messi’s itinerary in Kolkata is packed with events. As part of the celebration, a massive 70-foot iron statue of Messi has been erected near Salt Lake Stadium. Fans have been flocking to the site since morning to catch a glimpse of the towering tribute.

Due to security and logistical considerations, organizers and West Bengal state administration officials informed the media that Messi will officially inaugurate the statue virtually later today.

This visit marks the Argentine captain’s return to India after more than a decade. As part of his ongoing tour, Messi is expected to visit several other Indian cities over the coming days.
