The sixth edition of the Sri Lanka Premier League (LPL) was scheduled to take place this current month. However, the tournament was postponed due to various reasons.
Today, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) announced the new dates. If everything goes according to plan, the LPL will now be held from July 8 to August 8 of next year (2026).
The T20 World Cup is scheduled to be held in February-March 2026, with India and Sri Lanka serving as the host nations. This decision to move the LPL was taken to ensure that the ‘host venues’ are prepared well in advance for the World Cup tournament.
