The fire that broke out in two buildings in Dhaka’s Chawkbazar area has been brought under control. The Fire Service managed to contain the blaze after approximately one and a half hours.

The fire started around 4:45 PM on Monday (December 1).
Anwarul Islam, an official from the Fire Service Headquarters Media Cell, confirmed this information.
He stated that a total of seven units from the Lalbagh, Palashi, and Siddique Bazar Fire Stations were deployed to extinguish the fire. Due to the rapid efforts of these units, major damage was successfully averted.
The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage are not yet known. The Fire Service investigation team has begun its work on the matter.
He further elaborated on the affected structures in Chawkbazar:
Building 1 (Three-storey): The ground floor housed a pulse (dal) warehouse and mill, the second floor was used for employee accommodation, and the third floor contained a luggage fitting factory.
Building 2 (Two-storey): The ground floor contained a workshop, and the second floor served as an office.
On the same day, another fire broke out at 3:40 PM in a six-storey residential building in Mohammadpur’s Johuri Moholla. Two units of the Fire Service responded to that incident and successfully brought the fire under control by 4:25 PM.
