Abul Kalam Azad, who died due to the collapse of a metro rail bearing pad, was buried at his ancestral village in Naria upazila of Shariatpur on Monday morning.

Before the burial, the second funeral prayer was held at the Iswarkathi village.
The first prayers were offered at Ailpara area, Siddhirganj upazila, Narayanganj, where Abul Kalam lived as a tenant with his family. Hundreds of people reportedly attended the first prayers at Baitul Falah Jam-e-Masjid in Ailpara.
Around 12:15pm on Sunday, a bearing pad, weighing at least 140 kilograms, fell down from the Farmgate metro rail station, killing Abul Kalam instantly as he was walking beneath the station.
He worked in the ticket selling section of a travel agency in the capital.
