Protesters occupied the strategic Shahbagh intersection late Thursday night, bringing traffic to a complete standstill following news of the death of Sharif Osman Hadi, the spokesperson for Inqilab Moncho.

Hadi passed away at approximately 9:45 PM tonight while undergoing treatment at Singapore General Hospital. He had been battling for his life since being shot in the head on December 12 in Purana Paltan.
Midnight Demonstrations
The atmosphere at Shahbagh turned electric around 10:30 PM as hundreds of activists took to the streets. Demonstrators were heard chanting defiant slogans, including:
“Who are you, who am I? Hadi, Hadi!”
“We will all become Hadi; we will speak in the face of bullets.”
“Catch the attackers, fill the jails.”
Timeline of the Incident
Dec 12: Hadi, a potential independent candidate for the Dhaka-8 constituency, was shot at point-blank range on Box Culvert Road.
Dec 15: Following a deterioration in his condition at Evercare Hospital, he was flown to Singapore via a government-funded air ambulance.
Dec 18: Officials confirmed his passing after a week-long struggle in critical care.
The blockade has caused significant disruptions in the capital, with protesters vowing to remain until those responsible for the assassination are brought to justice.
