BNP is 100% prepared for the election: Rumeen Farhana

umeen Farhana, Assistant International Affairs Secretary of the BNP, stated that the party is 100% prepared for the 13th National Parliament Election, which is scheduled to be held in February. She said, “After a long time, Bangladesh is about to enter an election. People’s expectations, dreams, and hopes surrounding this election are very high. As the largest political party, BNP has waited a long time for such an election.

BNP could have participated in 2014 and 2024 and could have gone into the opposition. But the BNP wanted to participate in the election only when there would be a fair, free, and neutral election in Bangladesh. Therefore, after various ups and downs and all the storms and pressures on our leaders and activists, an election is finally going to be held in February. BNP is 100% prepared for the election.”

She made these remarks when asked about the BNP’s preparedness for the February election during a private television talk show.

During the discussion, Rumeen Farhana said, “The future Bangladesh will be a Bangladesh of healthy competition. At one time, Bangladesh went through the politics of elimination. At one time, even the Shibir brothers could not openly say they were Shibir supporters.

They were subjected to various forms of torture. When Abrar Fahad was murdered, there was a public outcry that Abrar Fahad was a Shibir activist. I stood in Parliament then and said that a tradition had become established: ‘Give a bad name and then kill.’ A golden opportunity has come for us to move away from this position. Why shouldn’t we utilize that?”

Regarding the comments made by Tarique Rahman and Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir about Jamaat, Rumeen Farhana said, “Commenting on each other in the election field, informing the public and talking about each other’s weakest points is not something to be surprised about.

This happens globally between rival parties during elections. When we see Jamaat’s slogans, they also say—’Nouka (Awami League symbol) and Dhaner Shish (BNP symbol) are two snakes with the same venom.’ Or they say, ‘Toll collector so-and-so.’ We don’t take this seriously. Because the people of Bangladesh know what role each party played, when, where, and how.”

Regarding the statement by the Jamaat Ameer that even if Jamaat comes to power in the future and wins 200 seats, Jamaat will form a National Government and invite the BNP to join—this BNP leader commented, ‘Let the election happen first, then the seats. We have also heard the NCP, especially a very vocal leader of the NCP, say that they will probably get all 300 seats. I don’t know how 300 seats will be possible? Many such things are said before the election.’

She further added, “The issue of a National Government is clearly mentioned in the BNP’s 31-point plan. The BNP will form a government with people from all parties and opinions. Even earlier, in 2016, when Begum Khaleda Zia presented Vision 2030, she also spoke about a National Government.”
