Geysers are used most frequently in households during the winter season. Having a geyser frees you from the hassle of heating water for bathing or drinking. However, by following a few important rules when using this electric appliance, it is possible to significantly reduce electricity consumption.

Below are four effective ways to save on your electricity bill:
Avoid the habit of keeping it constantly switched on: Many people keep the geyser running for long periods, which increases the electricity bill. It is important to switch off the geyser a short time after turning it on when needed, as water heats up quickly. Although auto-cut geysers are now available which shut off as soon as the water is hot, older geysers may not have this feature.
Use water with caution: We often switch on the geyser every time we bathe or wash dishes. However, you should first open the tap to check if hot water is already running. If someone has recently used the geyser, some hot water may still be present inside the unit. Water in the geyser remains warm for several hours, which helps you avoid using it again and can save on your electricity bill.
Setting the Thermostat: If running the geyser is causing your electricity bill to increase, it is advisable to set its thermostat to 50-60 degrees Celsius while in use. This ensures that the geyser heats the water adequately while helping to reduce power consumption and lower the bill.
Replace Old Geysers: If the geyser used in your home is very old, it should be replaced. Old geysers consume a lot of electricity and often lack the latest features. In this case, consider purchasing a 5-star rated geyser which includes an auto-cut feature, helping to reduce the electricity bill.
