Muhsin Molla: The alliance of eight like-minded parties, including Jamaat-e-Islami, has concluded its massive show of strength or divisional-level rallies before the national election. The program across the seven divisions outside Dhaka was successfully completed with the rally in Sylhet on Saturday. After announcing their strong position in the field of politics, the alliance’s focus is now on seat-sharing negotiations for the upcoming election. A crucial meeting of the Liaison Committee is scheduled to take place today, Monday, for this purpose.
According to the party leaders, the massive public turnout at the divisional rallies has generated widespread enthusiasm and inspiration within the eight parties, from the central leadership down to the grassroots. This has further consolidated their unity and enabled them to convey their five-point demands to the grassroots level.
Maulana Abdul Halim, Assistant Secretary General of Jamaat-e-Islami, said, “The unbreakable unity of the eight parties was visible in these rallies after Dhaka. This is a victory for 180 million people against fascism.”
Today’s Meeting Agenda: Concerned sources state that with the divisional show-downs concluded, the leaders will now sit to discuss new work plans, including seat adjustment for participation in the upcoming national parliamentary election. The meeting of the 8-party Liaison Committee is scheduled to be held this afternoon, Monday, at the office of Khelafat Majlish.
Dr. Hamidur Rahman Azad, Coordinator of the Liaison Committee of the 8 protesting parties and Assistant Secretary General of Jamaat-e-Islami, informed that the meeting will discuss reviewing the divisional rallies, future courses of action, and overall electoral matters.
Seat Sharing and New Party Joining: According to sources, the alliance partners have prepared their own candidate lists. Today’s meeting will include discussions on seat adjustment based on each party’s report, demands, and potential for victory. It is hoped that this matter will become visible this week. Furthermore, it is known that several other parties are communicating about joining this 8-party alliance.
Dream of an Islamic Government: Maulana Jalaluddin Ahmad, a member of the Liaison Committee and Secretary General of Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis, said, “The dream of a non-discriminatory, just Bangladesh that the people envision after the mass uprising of ’24 can only be realized if a government led by Islamic forces comes to power. This is not possible through extortionist or terrorist groups.”
It should be noted that the rallies were held in Rajshahi, Khulna, Barisal, Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chattogram, and Sylhet from November 30 to December 6, advocating for a five-point demand, including the legal basis of the ‘July National Charter,’ creating a level playing field, and banning collaborators of fascism.
