BNP Standing Committee Member Salahuddin Ahmed has alleged that Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus has “violated” the July Charter by going beyond political consensus.

On Thursday noon, Prof Yunus spoke about the formation of a “constitution reform council” by elected lawmakers, but no such council was discussed during the government’s nine-month long consensus building talks, Salahuddin claimed in his initial reaction to the chief adviser’s speech to the nation.
BNP’s Standing Committee will hold an emergency meeting at party chairperson’s Gulshan office at 7pm Thursday, likely to discuss Prof Yunus’s speech and his plans for July Charter implementation.
