Remittance Flow Surges to Tk 26,047 Crore in 22 Days of November

DHAKA, November 24 — A robust pace is being observed in the flow of expatriate income this November. According to preliminary calculations by the central bank, workers abroad sent $127 million in remittances to the country in just three days, from November 20 to 22.

Bangladesh Bank announced that the country’s remittance flow during the first 22 days of November has increased by 24.5% compared to the same period last year. During this time, expatriates sent a total of $2.135 billion (213 crore 50 lakh US dollars) in remittances. Valued at Tk 122 per dollar, this amount stands at approximately Tk 26,047 crore.

In the same period last year, the country’s remittance flow was $1.715 billion. If the current remittance trend continues throughout the month, the total expatriate income for November is projected to reach $3 billion.

From July 1 to November 22 of the current fiscal year, expatriates have sent $12.284 billion in remittances. This is up from $10.653 billion recorded during the same period in the last fiscal year.
