Joint Forces Attacked While Attempting to Arrest Suspects in Kishoreganj

A joint team of police and army personnel came under attack from locals in Bhairab, Kishoreganj, while attempting to arrest several accused individuals. To bring the situation under control, the joint forces fired 10 rounds of blank shots. Later, three people were arrested.

The incident took place around 2 a.m. on Monday (September 22) at Jagannathpur Southpara (Gainhati) in Bhairab municipality.

The arrestees have been identified as Naeem Mia, son of late Mofiz Mia; Laden, son of Sukur Mia; and Sajal Mia, son of Ful Mia — all residents of Jagannathpur Southpara (Gainhati).

According to sources, on September 14, a clash erupted between youths from Jagannathpur Southpara (Gainhati) and Bapari Bari over a football match. Two individuals from Bapari Bari were seriously injured in the incident. On September 15, a case was filed naming eight individuals and accusing ten others as unidentified suspects.

On Monday night, when joint forces went to arrest the accused, locals attacked them. In response, the forces fired 10 blank rounds to protect themselves and bring the situation under control.

Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Nazmus Sakib of Bhairab Circle confirmed the incident, stating that the forces had to fire blank shots to restore order. He also said three suspects were arrested in connection with the attack.
