Sarjis Alam, chief organizer of the NCP’s northern region, expressed doubts about the Election Commission’s transparency and neutrality ahead of the upcoming elections.

Speaking at a debate festival in Panchagarh, he criticized the EC for not granting the NCP the Shapla (water lily) symbol without any legal justification.

He warned that if the EC yields to pressure over party symbols, the credibility of the election is compromised even before it begins. Alam said the NCP has applied for the symbol and hopes to receive it.

He also accused the Awami League of using hired participants at public rallies, claiming their actual support in July’s political events was minimal.

Regarding a possible merger with the Ganadhikar Parishad, Alam said discussions are ongoing and positive.

He emphasized that the two groups share similar ideals and represent the same young generation of Bangladeshis, aiming to contest elections jointly and win parliamentary seats with public support.
