A fire that broke out at the Bangladesh Medical University (BMU), also known as PG Hospital, at the Shahbagh intersection in Dhaka, was quickly brought under control this morning, Wednesday, November 26, 2025.

The blaze reportedly erupted on the fourth floor of the hospital’s ‘A-block’ around 11:14 AM.
Upon receiving the information, seven firefighting units from the Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) were immediately dispatched to the scene. According to Rashed Bin Khalid, Duty Officer (media cell) at the FSCD headquarters, the fire was successfully brought under control within a short time, around 11:32 AM.
Crucially, the official confirmed that there were no reports of casualties or individuals trapped inside the fire-affected section of the hospital. The rapid response from the firefighting teams prevented the situation from escalating.
