DHAKA: Police avoided a big disaster on Friday morning. Indeed, first and foremost, the [MRT POLICE INFORMATION] located two homemade bombs. They cleared them safely. Significantly, attackers put these on the vital elevated metro rail track.

Police and the bomb squad acted fast. Consequently, they ensured they removed the danger right away. Furthermore, this stopped major harm to people and property. Workers found the dangerous devices between the busy [METRO ROUTE MAP] stations. Notably, this train line serves thousands daily.

Discovery and Emergency Response

The emergency call reached police at 9 AM. Crucially, this call came immediately after maintenance workers saw the items. In fact, as a starting point, they were doing routine safety checks.

The items lay dangerously on the track. Specifically, they were near two large pillars: 288 and 289. Authorities confirmed the devices were crude bombs. Clearly, this shows a direct plan to cause harm.

They wrapped the devices in thick tape. Moreover, they cleverly hid them inside small metal tins. Ultimately, this simple trick made them look like trash. Immediately, as expected, the bombs caused a high-level security alert. Therefore, this made many groups start a quick response.

Cleanup, Safety, and Legal Action

Right away, following the alert, the [DMP SPECIAL UNITS] rushed to the spot. These experts used strict safety rules. Next, they set up a wide safe zone.

The team made the bombs safe. Afterward, they carefully took them away for testing. Inspector Sohel Chowdhury gave official reports. Hence, he confirmed that the good news is the metro track itself saw no damage.

Train service saw only minor issues. Nevertheless, short delays were needed for safety. Consequently, and equally important, police [LOCAL CRIME REPORT] has formally opened a case. In short, this starts a serious legal process. Crucially, the goal is to find the attackers behind this terror.

Investigation Challenges

However, the investigation faces a big problem. Indeed, as a result of the design, this is due to the high track. Inspector Chowdhury stated no dedicated cameras are right on this track section.

This gap exists primarily because it is too hard and costly to install cameras there. Therefore, in order to gather clues and find the attackers, the police are reviewing video footage.

They collect video from cameras at nearby shops, homes, and roads beneath the track. Moreover, additionally, police analysts may check

for evidence tips. Ultimately, this ensures they run a full and proper investigation.

Wider Violence Context

It is important to note that this discovery is not a single event. Instead, rather, it fits into a sad pattern of violence. Specifically, this pattern has affected the city’s public areas.

For the last two weeks, the capital has faced unrest and sabotage. As a result, attackers have been setting off crude bombs in several spots. Unsurprisingly, they cause fear and damage.

Furthermore, besides this, police recovered multiple other similar bombs. Thus, this suggests the attacks are planned together.

For example, most recently, in a serious [REPORT ON RECENT BOMB BLASTS] that shows the danger to staff, a police officer (ASI) got hurt. Notably, this happened during a bomb incident while he responded to a call. Overall, in conclusion, this proves the security threat is high and growing. Finally, authorities ask the public to be alert to help stop this problem.
