For the second time in 24 hours, the Bangladesh Jewellers’ Association (BAJUS) has announced a significant reduction in gold prices. The price of the finest quality 22-carat gold has been lowered by BDT 1,458 per bhori (11.664 grams), bringing the new price to BDT 2,22,724.

This price cut follows a decrease in the price of pure gold (Tejabi gold) in the local market. The new rates will come into effect from Friday, January 2, 2026.
The decision was finalized during a meeting of the BAJUS Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring on Thursday. According to a press release signed by Committee Chairman Dr. Dewan Aminul Islam Shahin, the reduction is part of an ongoing adjustment.
Notably, prices have dropped by a total of BDT 4,199 in the first two days of the new year. This follows a record-breaking peak in late 2025, when 22-carat gold hit an all-time high of BDT 2,29,431.
