Zelensky: Massive Russian Strikes Prove Moscow Opposes Peace

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has stated that Russia’s devastating attacks on Kyiv make it clear that Moscow has no intention of ending the war. He made these remarks following a fresh wave of strikes by Moscow on Saturday (December 27).

Local authorities reported that two people were killed and 32 others injured in a missile and drone assault that lasted nearly ten hours. Ukraine’s Development Minister, Oleksiy Kuleba, said that damage to energy infrastructure has left approximately 40% of residential buildings in Kyiv and its surrounding areas without heating.

On Sunday (December 28), while en route to Florida for a meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump, Zelensky noted that Russia launched nearly 500 drones and 40 missiles targeting energy and civilian facilities. He called for even tougher measures from the United States, Europe, and other allies against Russian aggression.

In response to the strikes, neighboring Poland placed its air defense systems and fighter jets on high alert. However, it was later reported that no violations of Polish airspace occurred.
