With no safe zones left and formal shelters overcrowded, thousands of Palestinians in Gaza are forced to live inside the hollowed-out remains of their bombed homes. Despite the constant risk of building collapses and unexploded ordnance, families are seen setting up makeshift kitchens amidst concrete slabs and twisted metal.
Humanitarian agencies warn that these “living ruins” have become death traps, especially during the winter rains which further destabilize the structures. Residents describe a harrowing choice: staying in the rubble of their past or facing the brutal cold of the streets. As the conflict continues, the lack of heavy machinery makes it impossible to clear the debris, leaving a population trapped in a landscape of dust and destruction.
