BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has issued a stern warning that the party will take strict organizational action against any member who contests as a rebel candidate in seats allocated to alliance partners. He made these remarks on Tuesday (December 23) while announcing a seat-sharing agreement with Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam.
As part of the election roadmap for the 13th National Parliamentary Election, BNP has vacated four seats—Nilphamari-1, Narayanganj-4, Sylhet-5, and Brahmanbaria-2—for Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam. Mirza Fakhrul clarified that BNP will not field its own candidates in these constituencies and emphasized that all party members must respect this decision. He also urged voters in those areas to vote for the ‘Date Palm’ (Khejur Gach) symbol to strengthen the overall coalition.
