DMP Confirms Hadi Attackers Are Still in Bangladesh; Suspect Identified, Passport Seized

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has refuted claims that the individuals involved in the attack on Sharif Osman Hadi, spokesperson of the Inqilab Moncho and a potential independent candidate for the Dhaka-8 constituency, have fled to India.

At a press briefing held on Sunday (December 14) afternoon at the DMP Media Centre on Minto Road, DMP Additional Commissioner S M Nazrul Islam confirmed that the attackers are currently located within the country, and operations are underway to arrest them.

Key Police Updates
Passport Seizure: The official stated that the passports of those involved in the incident have been seized (“sealed”) to prevent them from leaving Bangladesh.

Prime Suspect Identified: The police have initially confirmed that a suspect named Faisal directly fired the shot during the attack.

Arrest Made: Abdul Hannan, the owner of the motorcycle used in the attack, has been arrested.

Investigation Scope: The DMP is thoroughly investigating all aspects behind the incident and has ramped up efforts to quickly bring all other culprits under the law.

Sharif Osman Hadi was shot by assailants in the Bijoynagar Box Culvert area of the capital on Friday (December 12) noon. He was initially taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital and later transferred to Evercare Hospital. According to doctors, his condition is still critical.
