A recent study has focused on one particular spice from that list, claiming that consuming just 5 grams daily can help control cholesterol levels in the blood. That beneficial spice is Black Seed (Kalonji).

Black seed plays a vital role in reducing bad cholesterol and increasing good cholesterol in the body. Researchers tested participants by feeding them black seed for eight weeks. They claim the results were quite remarkable: those who consumed black seed regularly experienced a reduction in total cholesterol levels in their blood. Furthermore, their tendency to accumulate fat inside the body also slightly decreased.
In addition to this study, nutritionist Deepshikha Jain also shared her opinion on the matter. She stated that black seed is an extremely beneficial spice. Immense qualities are hidden within these small black grains. Besides its anti-inflammatory properties, it has the power to boost immunity. For this reason, experts recommend consuming one teaspoon of black seed daily.
According to nutritionists, controlling cholesterol levels makes it beneficial for the heart. Additionally, black seed can mitigate problems associated with obesity, reducing the risk of lifestyle-related diseases.
Laboratory tests have also shown that the active ingredients in black seed can prevent the formation of fat cells in the body. In essence, the body receives a signal that there is no need to store excess fat. This is why researchers say that black seed doesn’t just enhance flavor but can silently take care of heart health.
However, experts caution that black seed is by no means a substitute for medicine or medical treatment. If anyone already has heart disease, kidney problems, or is in the habit of taking regular medication, it is essential to consult a doctor before making black seed a regular part of their diet.
