Students of the seven government colleges have announced that they will intensify their movement demanding the issuance of the final ordinance for Dhaka Central University. On Monday (December 8), they will once again observe a blockade program, including road closures.

On Sunday (December 7), they blocked various roads in the capital starting from the morning. Although they later withdrew the blockade to avoid public suffering, they announced that the movement would continue until the ordinance is in their hands.
The students continued their protest and stayed put overnight in front of the Shiksha Bhaban (Education Building).
The students allege that despite demanding it for a long time, the Ministry of Education authorities have shown no progress. As a result, over 150,000 students are suffering from identity crises and academic uncertainty. Therefore, they have announced a continuation of their programs, including road blockades, sit-ins, and encirclements.
Although the Ministry of Education published the draft law for the proposed university, the work on the final ordinance has been stalled for a long time.
They further stated that this situation has led to students facing difficulties regarding their university identity, teaching complexities, and future careers. To minimize public suffering, they are currently continuing their movement while positioned next to the Shiksha Bhaban.
On November 12, the Ministry of Education announced its policy decision to merge the seven colleges and establish a new public university named ‘Dhaka Central University.’
The same message also informed that the affiliation with Dhaka University has been canceled.
