4 crude bomb-like objects recovered from EC compound

Police have recovered four crude bomb-like objects from inside the Election Commission (EC) Secretariat compound in Agargaon, Dhaka.

The bomb disposal unit later neutralized them.

Confirming the matter on Wednesday afternoon, Sher-e-Bangla Nagar police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Imaul Haque said the objects were found in a dark corner of the building’s parking area after receiving information in the morning.

The DMP bomb disposal unit later defused them in a nearby field beside the China-Bangladesh Friendship Conference Centre, he said.

According to the OC, security personnel first noticed four small objects wrapped in scotch tape inside the EC compound and informed the police, who then recovered them.

He added that CCTV footage is being analyzed to identify those involved.
