Flight Chaos in Dhaka: 8 International Flights Diverted Due to Fog

For the second consecutive day, flight operations at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) have been severely disrupted due to dense fog. On Saturday (December 27), at least eight international flights were diverted to alternative airports as visibility dropped to unsafe levels.

Kawsar Mahmud, Public Relations Officer of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB), confirmed that the diversions began in the early morning. According to CAAB:

3 flights were diverted to Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram.

4 flights landed at Kolkata Airport, India.

1 flight was rerouted to Bangkok, Thailand.

Authorities stated that normal operations would resume as soon as weather conditions improve. Airlines are providing meals and hotel accommodations for stranded passengers in accordance with standard regulations. This follows a similar disruption on Friday (December 26), when five international flights were diverted to Kolkata due to the same weather conditions.
