Syed Ehsanul Huda, Chairman of the Bangladesh Jatiya Dal, has officially joined the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) after dissolving his own political organization. The joining ceremony took place on Monday (December 22) at the BNP Chairperson’s political office in Gulshan, where he was welcomed with flowers by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
Ehsanul Huda, whose father Syed Sirajul Huda founded the Jatiya Dal, was a prominent coordinator of the 12-Party Alliance and a vocal supporter of Tarique Rahman’s 31-point state reform framework. His sudden decision to merge his party into the BNP has fueled strong speculation that he will be the final candidate for the ‘Sheaf of Paddy’ (Dhaner Sheesh) symbol in the Kishorganj-5 (Bajitpur-Nikli) constituency.
While local supporters believe this move secures his candidacy, it has created a stir among grassroots leaders, particularly followers of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Iqbal, who was previously announced as the party’s primary candidate for the seat.
