BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has expressed deep concern over the shooting of Sharif Osman Hadi, an independent candidate for the Dhaka-$8$ constituency. At the same time, he called for the immediate security of all candidates contesting the Thirteenth National Election.

He made these comments at a discussion meeting organized by the Bhasani Janashakti Party at the National Press Club in the capital on Friday afternoon (December $12$).

Mirza Fakhrul stated that a certain group is working desperately to foil the election, and the shooting of Sharif Osman Hadi is part of that sequence. He said, “Today, a candidate has been shot, and I strongly condemn this. I demand the immediate security of all candidates.”

The BNP Secretary General also called for the swift legal action and punishment of those involved in the incident. He mentioned that there would be programs organized across the country in response to the event.

Fakhrul said, “Maulana Bhasani was in a leadership role in the politics of this country. It is impossible to write the history of Bangladesh without his name.”

He expressed his belief, saying, “We believe the people of Bangladesh will vote in favor of democracy. After the election, we will form a National Government.”
