"Nation Has Lost a Great Guardian": Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus Mourns Khaleda Zia

Chief Adviser of the Interim Government, Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, has expressed profound shock and grief at the passing of three-time former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.

In a condolence message released on Tuesday morning,
The Chief Adviser stated, “With the passing of Begum Khaleda Zia, the nation has lost a great guardian. I am deeply saddened and grief-stricken by her demise.”

Professor Yunus noted that Begum Khaleda Zia was not just the leader of a political party, but an “important chapter in the history of Bangladesh.” He recalled her role in the struggle for democracy, the establishment of a multi-party political culture, and the protection of people’s rights as unforgettable.

The Chief Adviser further added, “Due to her uncompromising leadership, the nation was repeatedly freed from undemocratic situations and inspired to reclaim democracy. The nation will remember her contributions with due respect.” Despite political differences, he acknowledged that her long political journey dedicated to national welfare and her firm resolve would continue to serve as a guide.

He also prayed for the eternal peace of her soul and conveyed his deepest sympathies to her bereaved family, party leaders, and supporters.
