RAB-6 has arrested the primary suspect, identified as “Dhakaiya Shamim” (D.K. Shamim), and his accomplice Mahadin for the shooting of National Citizen Party (NCP) leader Motaleb Sikder in Khulna.

Confirming the arrests on Saturday (December 27), RAB stated that Shamim is the one who directly fired the shots at Motaleb. In a press briefing later that afternoon, RAB-6 Acting Commander Major Md. Nazmul Islam revealed that the attack was triggered by a dispute over drug money and the supply of narcotics.
According to the investigation, the incident took place on Monday (December 22) around 11:00 AM inside a rented flat at “Mukta House” in the Sonadanga area of Khulna city. Motaleb Sikder, the Khulna Divisional Convener of NCP’s labor wing “Jatiya Sramik Shakti,” was shot in the head. Fortunately, the bullet grazed his scalp, and he is now out of danger.
Police and RAB recovered drug paraphernalia and evidence of illicit activities from the scene. Earlier, a woman named Tanima (alias Tonny), who is a leader of the NCP’s youth wing and the tenant of the flat, was also arrested in connection with the case. With these new arrests, a total of four individuals have been taken into custody so far. Shamim reportedly has at least seven criminal cases against him, including drug and robbery charges.
