To prevent the influence of “black money” in the upcoming national election, Bangladesh Police and top administration officials have recommended strictly regulating mobile banking services. During a high-level meeting with the Election Commission on December 23, 2025, officials suggested setting transaction ceilings and monitoring digital money transfers.
Police commissioners and DIGs emphasized that a sudden surge in digital transactions often occurs before elections to influence voters. They have called for a special circular from Bangladesh Bank to limit transfers (such as bKash, Nagad, or Upay) and keep a “seven-day study” on total transaction volumes to ensure a fair voting environment.
