Following the news of the death of BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia, crowds of party leaders and supporters are swelling in front of Evercare Hospital in the capital. Security measures have been bolstered in front of the hospital to maintain control over the overall situation.

On Tuesday morning, an on-site visit revealed that Army personnel have been deployed in front of Evercare Hospital, alongside additional units of Police and BGB (Border Guard Bangladesh).
Many BNP activists who arrived upon hearing the news attempted to enter the hospital premises. However, police have kept them held back using barricades.
Many were seen weeping in front of the hospital. Among them was Md. Kibria, a former Chhatra Dal leader from Chittagong University. He said, “We were very hopeful that our leader would recover and return among us. But she has responded to the call of Allah and departed. We pray for the peace of her departed soul. May Allah accept her as a martyr.”
He further added, “The people of this country have much to learn from her (Khaleda Zia’s) life history. I seek prayers from the nation for her.”
Earlier this Tuesday morning, Khaleda Zia passed away while undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital at the age of 80. For a long time, she had been suffering from various physical complications, including heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, liver cirrhosis, and kidney issues.
She was rushed to Evercare Hospital on November 23 after developing breathing difficulties. Her treatment was being supervised by a medical board consisting of local and foreign specialist doctors. While initiatives were taken to send her abroad for treatment, it was not possible due to her critical physical condition.
