A special court in Pakistan on Saturday (December 20, 2025) sentenced former Prime Minister and PTI founder Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, to 17 years of imprisonment in the Toshakhana-II corruption case.
The verdict was delivered by Special Judge Shahrukh Arjumand at the high-security Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi. The court found the couple guilty of illegally retaining a high-value jewelry set gifted by the Saudi Crown Prince in 2021 by significantly undervaluing it.
Sentence Breakdown:
10 Years: Rigorous imprisonment under Sections 34 (common intention) and 409 (criminal breach of trust) of the Pakistan Penal Code.
7 Years: Under the Prevention of Corruption Act (to run consecutively in some interpretations, or as part of the total 17-year term).
Fine: Both were fined PKR 16.4 million each.
The court noted that it took a “lenient view” in awarding the sentence, considering Imran Khan’s advanced age (73) and the fact that Bushra Bibi is a woman. Following the verdict, Bushra Bibi, who was on bail, was taken back into custody. Imran Khan is already serving multiple sentences in other cases.
