The Seasonal Shift
The fields in the northern region are now empty of rice, even before the end of the Bengali month of Kartik. The new harvest has reached the farmers’ homes. Right at this time, dense fog has begun to blanket nature. The cold wind from the north indicates that winter is settling in. The Met Office has warned of the possibility of a cold wave starting in early December.

Temperature Records
On Wednesday (November 26), the minimum temperature recorded at the Tetulia Weather Observatory at 6:00 AM was 13 degrees Celsius. The humidity at that time was 97 percent.

The previous day, Tuesday, the minimum temperature was 12.8 degrees Celsius, which was one of the season’s lowest. The day before that, Monday, it was 13.4 degrees Celsius. This continuous fluctuation in temperature has intensified the feeling of cold.

Cold Wave and Rain Forecast
The BWOT Team reported that if the sea situation remains stable, the cold wave will show its true form in December. The first cold wave of this season is likely to arrive in December.

The Met Office also stated that favorable conditions for a low-pressure area or cyclone over the sea are developing towards the end of November, which may lead to rainfall across the country. This rainfall could also cause the sea to become rough, and fishermen in coastal areas have been advised to be cautious.

This forecast makes it clear that due to the active flow of warm air, the intensity of winter is unlikely to increase significantly for the rest of November. However, the true winter chill is expected to arrive at the beginning of December.

Jitendra Nath Roy, Meteorologist at the Tetulia Weather Observatory, said, “Winter has started to descend. The cold will intensify further at the beginning of December. There is also a possibility of a cold wave.”
