It is not a new occurrence for actresses to face obscene comments and attacks on social media. Bollywood actress Huma Qureshi has now demanded stringent action against those who make derogatory remarks about celebrities’ lives. According to her, the punishment for abusive comments on social media should be the same as the punishment for harassing women in the real world.

The ‘Maharani’ fame actress recently spoke out following an increase in negative comments targeting celebrities across various platforms.
Huma Qureshi’s Statement on Double Standards
Huma Qureshi stated, “Some people on social media ask us to post pictures wearing a bikini. Then, when we actually post one, they write, ‘What are you doing?’ This hypocrisy is both irritating and saddening. If you harass women with abusive comments on the street, you face punishment. The same kind of punishment should be applicable for doing the same thing on social media. There should be no difference.”
The actress further clarified, “If someone sends me obscene pictures or makes vulgar comments in my messages, they should also be punished. All I want to say is, stop criticizing women about what they wear, their makeup, lifestyle, work, or what time they return home at night.”
Public Reaction and Career Update
The majority of both women and men users have agreed with her statement. In their opinion, harassment or indecent assault through any medium is highly reprehensible, and those involved deserve strict punishment.
On the professional front, Huma Qureshi is enjoying a successful time in her acting career. Her series, ‘Delhi Crime 3’ and ‘Maharani 4,’ have received considerable praise.
