Tarique Rahman will lead the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) in the upcoming 13th parliamentary election scheduled for February 2026.

This was confirmed by Humayun Kabir, the party’s Acting Chairman’s Foreign Affairs Advisor,
upon his return from the UN General Assembly session in the United States.Humayun Kabir stated, “The national election will take place in February.
The BNP will participate in this election under Tarique Rahman’s leadership.
“The BNP first contested the parliamentary election in 1979 under Ziaur Rahman’s leadership, winning 207 seats.
After his death, Khaleda Zia led the party through several elections in the 1990s and 2000s.
In 2018, following Khaleda’s imprisonment, the BNP allied with the Dr Kamal Hossain-led Jatiya Oikya Front to contest the 11th national election.
