Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh has strongly condemned the Quran desecration incident involving North South University student Apurbo Pal and demanded his exemplary trial by the caretaker government immediately.

The party’s Amir Allama Muhibbullah Babunagari and General Secretary Allama Sajedur Rahman issued a statement warning that if Apurbo’s exemplary punishment is not ensured, they will organize a long march towards Dhaka.
The statement said that the despicable act of Quran desecration by North South University student Apurbo Pal has deeply wounded the hearts of millions of devout Muslims in the country.
The student himself committed a greater offense by posting the video of Quran desecration on his Facebook profile, which shows that he did this act deliberately.
We strongly condemn this incident and demand exemplary punishment from the caretaker government. Earlier, North South University had dismissed a teacher for mentioning Hadith in class, so the university authorities must also clarify their stance on Apurbo Pal’s Quran desecration incident.
They added that from the viral video, his gestures, speech, and extremism do not indicate madness; rather, it seems he deliberately committed this act. If any local or foreign agency is involved behind Apurbo Pal’s heinous crime, the government must investigate and expose them.
At this critical time for the country, conspiracies to incite unrest must be stopped.
The leaders further said that whenever Islam and the Prophet (PBUH) are insulted, some become desperate to teach patience to devout Muslims.
We have exercised patience repeatedly in hope of justice in the past. But no justice was served. Even in the cases of Rakhail Raha and poet Sohel Hasan Galib, who insulted religion with offensive language, we trusted the law patiently, but no trial happened.
Patience and peace have been betrayed repeatedly among devout Muslims. The same picture repeats from Palestine to Bangladesh!
The leaders said, “We do not want to be deceived anymore. To prevent religious insult, there is no alternative but to enact maximum punishment laws.
If the government does not ensure an exemplary trial for Quran desecrator Apurbo Pal, we will consult with the country’s top Ulema and call for a long march towards Dhaka. We have shown enough patience, and no more forgiveness will be given.”
