DHAKA, November 21, 2025 – BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia had a brief meeting with Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus today. The meeting was a courtesy interaction. It took place at Senakunja in Dhaka Cantonment. This occurred on the sidelines of a reception. Specifically, the reception was marking Armed Forces Day 2025.

Courteous Exchange
The Chief Adviser’s Press Wing called the interaction a simple courtesy meeting. Both figures were attending the large, high-profile state event. First, the Chief Adviser asked about the former Prime Minister’s health. He also wished her well.
Begum Zia gratefully thanked him for his concern. Then, she asked about the health of the Chief Adviser’s wife, Afrozi Yunus. Furthermore, she sent her best wishes to Mrs. Yunus.
A Rare Public Appearance
The former Prime Minister’s presence at this major event gained significant attention. She arrived at Senakunja around 4:00 PM. Immediately, Army Chief General Waker-uz-Zaman and other senior Armed Forces officials greeted her. Her youngest daughter-in-law, Syeda Shamila Rahman Sithi, came with her.
Therefore, this public visit by the former Prime Minister is important. Consequently, the meeting between the interim government head and the major party leader is considered a rare interaction.
