Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif invited Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus to visit Pakistan during their meeting at the United Nations General Assembly held at the UN Headquarters on 24 September.

The two leaders discussed enhancing economic ties, with a focus on expanding bilateral trade between Bangladesh and Pakistan, according to Shafiqul Alam, the Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary.
At the meeting’s start, Muhammad Yunus expressed condolences to those who lost their lives in the recent devastating floods in Pakistan. Prime Minister Sharif attributed the disaster mainly to climate change and other factors.
The leaders also reflected on the progress made earlier this year in August, when both nations reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations for the mutual benefit of their peoples. Bangladesh emphasized the importance of deepening cooperation based on mutual respect, understanding, and shared interests.
National Security Adviser Dr. Khalilur Rahman and other officials were present during the meeting. The engagement highlights ongoing efforts to improve diplomatic and economic relations between the two historically complex neighbors amid evolving regional dynamics.
This meeting at the UN symbolizes a step towards closer cooperation, building on recent diplomatic exchanges, including Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister’s visit to Dhaka earlier in 2025.
