20 Special Trains to Run on Tarique Rahman’s Homecoming Day

Bangladesh Railway has decided to operate 20 special trains on 10 routes to facilitate the travel of leaders, activists, and supporters of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) for the homecoming of its acting chairman, Tarique Rahman. This arrangement follows a request from the party’s central and regional offices.

In addition to the special trains, extra coaches will be attached to several regular services to manage the expected surge in passengers. According to the Ministry of Railways, these special operations are estimated to generate approximately BDT 3.6 million in revenue.

However, to accommodate these special services, the journeys of three short-distance trains—Rajbari Commuter, Dhalarchar Express, and Rohanpur Commuter—will remain suspended for one day on December 25. The Ministry expressed regret for the temporary inconvenience to regular passengers. Furthermore, the authorities have instructed that all operations must strictly comply with the Election Code of Conduct 2025.
