The physical condition of Sharif Osman Hadi, a gunshot victim of the July uprising currently undergoing treatment at Singapore General Hospital, remains extremely critical and unchanged. According to the latest CT scan, doctors reported a slight increase in ischemia (a deficiency of blood flow) in his brain. Medical experts stated that, for now, there are no signs of clinical improvement.

On Wednesday evening (December 17), Dr. Abdul Ahad, a neurosurgeon at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) who is directly involved in Hadi’s treatment, provided a comprehensive update on his health to the media.
Dr. Ahad noted that the new CT scan conducted in Singapore showed that the ischemia in Hadi’s brain has worsened compared to previous reports. Furthermore, there has been no significant improvement in his neurological reflexes. He stated, “Hadi’s physical condition is currently ‘critical and static’—meaning it has neither deteriorated nor improved.”
Currently, Hadi’s heart, lungs, and kidneys are being kept functional through life support. Regarding the bullet fragment remaining in his head, doctors explained that it is lodged in a deep-seated region of the brain. At this stage, removing the fragment does not guarantee any visible improvement in brain function; instead, surgery could pose even greater risks given his current state.
Addressing discussions about moving him to the UK or USA for advanced treatment, Dr. Ahad mentioned that the medical team in Singapore does not consider it feasible yet. Hadi lacks the physical strength to endure the strain of a long-distance flight. For now, he will remain under “conservative management” and intensive observation at Singapore General Hospital.
Dr. Ahad also clarified that information circulating on social media regarding an improvement in Hadi’s condition is baseless. He urged the nation not to pay heed to rumors and requested prayers for Hadi’s recovery.
Meanwhile, the Inqilab Mancha stated that they are waiting for Hadi’s condition to stabilize. While surgery may be required to reactivate brain functions, his body must be fully stable first. Currently, all his organs except the brain are functional. Hadi’s family has requested special prayers from everyone for his quick recovery.
