The Election Commission, led by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) A. M. M. Nasir Uddin, has gone to Bangabhaban to meet with President Md. Shahabuddin before the announcement of the schedule for the upcoming National Parliament Election and Referendum.

On Wednesday (December 10), the CEC and the four Election Commissioners departed for Bangabhaban at 11:40 AM. The courtesy meeting with the President is scheduled to take place at 12:30 PM.
Prior to this, the five-member Commission held a brief internal meeting around 11:00 AM.
According to tradition, the Election Commission informs the President about all preparations before officially announcing the schedule. Following this meeting, the CEC announces the election schedule through an address broadcast on BTV and radio. The CEC’s address is scheduled to be recorded at the Election Building in Agargaon on Wednesday afternoon.
Meanwhile, security has been tightened in and around the Election Building area in Agargaon since the morning.
The schedule will be announced, setting the voting date for the first half of February. Both the parliamentary election and the referendum will be held on the same day, from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
The schedule for the parliamentary election will specify the deadlines for collecting and submitting nomination papers, scrutiny, withdrawal of candidature, and the voting day. The schedule for the referendum will only mention the voting date.
Other members of the Commission led by A. M. M. Nasir Uddin include Election Commissioners Abdur Rahmanel Masud, Tahmida Ahmed, Md. Anwarul Islam Sarker, and Abul Fazal Md. Sanaullah. Akhtar Ahmed is serving as the Election Commission Secretary.
