The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 244 leaders and activists of the banned Awami League and its affiliated groups during flash processions across the capital.

Speaking at a press briefing at the DMP Media Centre, DMP Additional Commissioner (Crime and Operations) SN Nazrul Islam revealed that police, with assistance from residents, seized 14 crude bombs and seven banners from those arrested.
The arrests took place in the Uttara, Farmgate, and Tejgaon areas. Most of the activists were from outside Dhaka, mainly from Mymensingh, Kishoreganj, Gazipur, and Gopalganj, according to the police official.
Nazrul Islam also stated that during previous DMP operations across the city, more than 500 leaders and activists of the banned Awami League had been detained.
He cautioned that the AL activists are planning activities aimed at disrupting law and order ahead of the upcoming elections.
