Professor Muhammad Yunus, the Chief Adviser of the Interim Government, has vowed to present the nation with the best election in history. He aims to hold this election in the first half of February next year (2026).

The Chief Adviser made this pledge on Sunday evening (December 7). He spoke during a meeting at the state guest house Jamuna. The Election Commissioners (EC) were led by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin.
Election Commission Confirms Readiness
CEC AMM Nasir Uddin updated the Chief Adviser on all preparations. These plans include the upcoming parliamentary election and a national referendum.
The CEC confirmed that all arrangements are proceeding smoothly. The Commission is now fully ready. They plan to hold the national election and the referendum on the same day. This will happen in the first half of February.
Praise for Support and Atmosphere
The CEC and other EC members thanked the Chief Adviser for his complete cooperation. They also extended thanks to the security forces and Army personnel. The Chief Adviser passed on this gratitude for their full support during the preparation phase.
The CEC reported that citizens are actively taking part in electoral activities. This participation has created a lively “electoral atmosphere” across the country.
Government Pledges Full Cooperation
The Chief Adviser expressed his satisfaction with the Election Commission’s preparations. He promised that the government would continue full support. This support aims to ensure a fair and neutral election.
“You are leading this long-awaited election for the nation,” he told the EC. “We must achieve the desired goal.”
He stressed the Interim Government’s commitment. “We are committed to delivering a beautiful election to the nation,” the Chief Adviser confirmed. “We plan to give the nation the best election in history in the first half of February.”
Attendees at the Meeting
The meeting included several key figures. Election Commissioners present were Abdur Rahmanel Masud, Tahmida Ahmad, Md. Anwarul Islam Sarker, and Brigadier General (Retd.) Abul Fazal Md. Sanaullah. Election Commission Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed also attended.
From the government side, National Security Adviser Dr. Khalilur Rahman and Principal Secretary to the Chief Adviser, M Siraj Uddin Mia, were present.
