Hadi Murder Case: Two Key Suspects Sent to Jail After Confessions

Sibion Diu and Sanjay Chisim, two suspects in the daylight shooting death of Inqilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi, have been sent to jail following two rounds of remand. The investigating officer (IO) informed the court that the suspects provided “highly important and sensational information” during interrogation, though specific details of these revelations were not disclosed.

On Friday (December 26), Inspector Faisal Ahmed of the DB Police (Motijheel Regional Team) produced the suspects in court after an 8-day remand, requesting they be kept in custody. Following the petition, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ripon Hossain ordered them to be sent to jail. SI Ruknuzzaman of the Prosecution Department confirmed the matter.

In the court application, the IO mentioned that during the remand period (December 21 to December 25), the suspects provided crucial information regarding the background of the incident. It has been revealed that Sibion Diu and Sanjay Chisim are members of a human trafficking and smuggling syndicate active in the Haluaghat border area of Mymensingh. They are close associates of Philip, the ringleader of this syndicate.

Intelligence sources and investigators believe that the primary fugitive in the case, Faisal Karim Masud, and his accomplices may have fled to India through this specific syndicate. There is a strong possibility that Sibion and Sanjay were directly involved in facilitating their escape, although the suspects are reportedly trying to deflect their involvement strategically.

Sibion Diu and Sanjay Chisim were initially detained by the BGB in the border area on December 15 and were formally shown arrested in this case on December 18. They were sent to jail today after a total of 8 days of questioning (3 days in the first phase and 5 days in the second). The IO stated that the suspects might be taken into remand again if necessary.

It is worth noting that on December 12, Sharif Osman Hadi was shot while on a moving rickshaw during an election campaign in the Bijoynagar area. He later passed away while undergoing advanced treatment in Singapore. A case was filed on December 14, which was subsequently converted into a murder case. So far, 11 individuals have been arrested in connection with this incident.
