The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) detained a member of the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) on Sunday (December 21) after he illegally crossed the “Zero Line” into Bangladeshi territory at the Patgram border in Lalmonirhat. The incident occurred at the Angarpota border under Dahagram Union.

The detained BSF personnel has been identified as Constable Ved Prakash, a member of the BSF’s 174/Arjun Camp.
Incident Details: According to BGB and local sources, the incident took place on Sunday afternoon near the Dangapara area, close to border pillar DAMP 1/7 S, under the jurisdiction of the Angarpota BOP (Border Outpost). Constable Ved Prakash reportedly crossed approximately 200 yards into Bangladesh while chasing a cow. BGB members on patrol at the Dahagram-Angarpota BOP apprehended him and took him into custody at the camp.
Seized Equipment: BGB recovered the following items from the detained soldier:
1 Shotgun
2 Rounds of ammunition
1 Wireless set
1 Android mobile phone
Current Status: The BGB confirmed the detention was due to a violation of border laws. Communication is currently ongoing between the two border forces. A decision regarding his return or further legal proceedings will be made following a high-level discussion/flag meeting.
