Shaheed Osman Hadi laid to rest beside National Poet’s grave

Final Journey: Shaheed Osman Hadi Buried Beside National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam

Sharif Osman Hadi, the spokesperson of Inqilab Moncho and a prominent figure of the July Uprising, was laid to rest today, Saturday (December 20), beside the grave of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam.

The burial took place at approximately 3:30 PM on the premises of the Dhaka University Central Mosque.

Massive Turnout at Janaza
Earlier in the day, his namaz-e-janaza was held at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban at 2:33 PM. Thousands of people from across the country and all walks of life gathered to pay their final respects, creating a deeply somber atmosphere.

The funeral prayer was led by his elder brother, Dr. Abu Bakar Siddique. Following the prayer, the vehicle carrying Hadi’s remains reached the Dhaka University campus around 3:00 PM.

The Burial Ceremony
Preparations for the grave began at 11:30 AM. High-ranking officials were present to oversee the final rites, including:

Dr. Saifuddin Ahmed, Proctor of Dhaka University.

Masud Alam, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of the DMP’s Ramna Zone.

Members of the Dhaka University proctorial body and faculty.

Background of the Incident
Sharif Osman Bin Hadi, the convener of Inqilab Moncho and an aspiring independent candidate for the Dhaka-8 constituency, was shot in the head by assailants on December 12 at Purana Paltan’s Box Culvert Road.

After initial treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital and subsequent care at Evercare Hospital, he was airlifted to Singapore on December 15 as his condition turned critical. He passed away this past Thursday while undergoing treatment at Singapore General Hospital.
