The Ministry of Youth and Sports has announced the postponement of the final match of the ongoing ‘Latin-Bangla Super Cup’ due to various mismanagement, financial irregularities, and disorder. The match between the Argentina and Brazil teams, which was scheduled to take place on Thursday (December 11), has been postponed two days before the scheduled time.
In a letter signed by the Ministry of Sports Assistant Director Ruhul Amin on Tuesday (December 9), the organizing company, AFB Boxing Promotion International Limited, was informed about the cancellation of the National Stadium allocation. The decision to postpone the match was also announced simultaneously.
In the letter, the Ministry expressed dissatisfaction, stating that the organizers failed to pay 50 percent of the match ticket sales revenue, did not clean up the stadium after the game, and did not provide any information regarding sponsorship and broadcasting rights—these factors led to the Ministry’s dissatisfaction with the organizers. Due to these irregularities, the organizers were instructed to submit all financial accounts, including half of the ticket sales revenue, by 4:00 PM on December 9.
Furthermore, sports journalist Rubel Rehan was attacked by private security personnel at the National Stadium during a match on Monday night (December 8). The Ministry of Sports cited this incident as ‘serious and unacceptable.’ It was mentioned in the letter as one of the major reasons behind the postponement of the match.
Additionally, although the organizing company announced the arrival of two football legends, Cafu and Claudio Caniggia, virtually neither of them is actually coming.
