The planned medical transfer of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia to London is now expected to occur late Friday morning, delayed due to a technical issue with the air ambulance. Meanwhile, Dr. Zubaida Rahman, wife of Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, is flying to Dhaka to personally accompany her critically ill mother-in-law to the United Kingdom.

BNP sources confirmed that the specialized air ambulance, provided by the Emir of Qatar, encountered a “technical problem.” The aircraft was originally scheduled to land in Dhaka late Thursday night. Consequently, this glitch has pushed back the former Prime Minister’s departure from the originally planned time of after midnight.
Zubaida Rahman’s Arrival
However, the delay aligns with the travel plans of Dr. Zubaida Rahman. She departed London on Thursday evening and is scheduled to arrive in Dhaka around 9:30 AM on Friday morning.
Dr. Rahman, who is also a medical professional and part of Khaleda Zia’s treatment board, will reportedly proceed directly to Evercare Hospital before accompanying the 80-year-old leader on the flight to London Bridge Hospital for advanced treatment. Party insiders indicate that final preparations for the transfer will follow Dr. Rahman’s arrival.
Critical Health Condition
Khaleda Zia remains in the Critical Care Unit (CCU) at Evercare Hospital, where she has been undergoing intensive treatment for various complications related to her liver, kidneys, and heart. Her personal physician, Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain, earlier confirmed that a medical board comprising local and foreign specialists had unanimously advised her immediate transfer for specialized care abroad.
