Expert Warns of Powerful Cyclone Threat: May Strike Coast Dec 1-4
Low-Pressure System Forming
DHAKA, BANGLADESH — A powerful cyclone may be brewing in the Bay of Bengal. Weather expert Mustafa Kamal Palash issued a strong warning this weekend, forecasting that the storm could strike the coast between December 1 and 4.

According to his prediction, a low-pressure system is expected to form around November 25 or 26. This formation will occur near the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The system will likely intensify from a low-pressure area into a depression. Subsequently, it could develop into a full-fledged cyclone. This path poses a serious threat to the coastal regions of both Bangladesh and India.
Rainfall and Sea Conditions
Authorities are urging maximum preparedness based on the forecasted impacts.
Rainfall: Light to moderate rainfall is expected across Bangladesh. This period of rain will last from November 30 to December 5.
Sea Warning: Rough sea conditions are predicted. These conditions should begin around November 28.
Urgent Safety Advisories
Officials are emphasizing critical safety measures to protect coastal communities and travelers:
Fishermen: All fishermen must avoid going out to sea after November 29.
Travelers: Travelers should immediately reconsider trips to coastal areas. This specifically includes Saint Martin’s Island. Rough sea conditions make travel dangerous.
Therefore, residents in vulnerable areas must monitor official weather updates closely. They should prepare for potential evacuation as the system develops next week.
